<p>How To Increase Your Site&#8217;s Popularity?</p>
<p>This the question of which the answers you might be searching for hours on the net and getting dissatisfied again and again.</p>
<p>As you might be knowing that of the total of the internet search, Google has a share of 50%, Yahoo of 30% and MSN of 20% leaving other search engines like Altavista, Yamour, etc.</p>
<p>So if you want to increase the popularity of your site, you must, at first, try to increase the Google Pagerank of your site which can be done only after you have got your site in Google&#8217;s Directory. And to do this you might fill the add url form provided by google. But don&#8217;t do that &#8216;cos it is not likely to help you!</p>
<p>To add your url you must get your link on other site which has got pagerank. Why, I&#8217;ll explain it now; Google searches or crawls to search the required result, it means for example the search word is &#8220;weight loss&#8221;, so Google would first search an site of that keyword from its directory then search links on that site on that keyword for further results. And you can get indexed in Google within 48hrs. If you ask a site with higher pagerank to put your link on his site for some amount of money.</p>
</div>
<p><span id="more-75"></span></p>
<p>That would probably an easy way to get your site indexed.</p>
<p>Then lets think of bringing traffic to your site. You can give your site to a PTC site which would give you visitors, but not true visitors. In the eyes of Google the less words your title has, the more weight you gain.</p>
<p>So to get a nice title for your site, I recommend you to download GoodKeywords from www.goodkeywords.com and do research on the main subject of your site. Then get a title with good popularity but less competitors.</p>

<p>Google PageRank have just updated recently. Many are surprised about this early update because PR usually updates quarterly or every 3-4 months. As usual, different effects to different websites took place. Many sites that who have gained PR are surely clapping their hands right now, while some who got the reverse effect are definitely wondering why? But there are also those sites who&#8217;s PR remains unchanged, at least its a draw.</p>
<p>As I visit SEO Forums and read different SEO articles, many are saying that PageRank doesn&#8217;t really matter anymore. They say that PR is already ignored and its value is not weighted that much. On the other end, there are people who still give importance to Google PageRank. Most of them still uses them as a reference of identifying the value of a sites pages. This contradicting ideas gives impact on how we should treat PR as far as our Internet marketing campaign is concerned.</p>
<p>On my own point of view, PageRank is still valuable and considerable in different ways. Imagine this, who would have want to exchange links on websites with PR0? I guess no one would engaged in this kind of link trading unless both of them have the same PR0 rating. A site with PR7 won&#8217;t even think of linking with PR0 sites that&#8217;s for sure. PageRank is still a good basis in measuring the page importance of websites. This link algorithm may not be perfect but it does help us determine the quality of a particular site.</p>
<p>No matter what people may say about PageRank, let us face the fact it is still a factor to consider. Having a high PR brings a lot of opportunity to do well in this kind of business. Even though some people ignore it, they don&#8217;t notice that it does affect their site even in the slightest way. PageRank is not formulated by Google for nothing. It has many purposes and one of them is to deliver viewers with quality and satisfying web pages.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The PageRank of a website is determined largely by the importance, or popularity, of the site based on the PageRank of the sites linking back to it. You must take advantage of quality backlinks to increase the PageRank of your site.</p>
<p>What are backlinks?</p>
<p>Plain and simple, backlinks are links that point back to your site. They are links you have exchanged with or received from other sites, as well as links placed strategically by you in forum posts, blog posts and comments, and the resource box of submitted articles. The submission of your site to website directories also provides backlinks that are highly favored by search engines.<br />
<span id="more-54"></span><br />
Ideally these links, especially those placed in your forum signature and resource box of published articles (see my related article &#8220;Your Signature &#8211; An Internet Marketing&#8221;), will contain keywords in the text of the link to create &#8220;anchor text.&#8221; For example,</p>
<blockquote><p>&lt;a href=&#8221;http://www.googlepagerankchecker.info&#8221;&gt;Online tool for pagerank checking&lt;/a&gt;</p></blockquote>
<p>instead of</p>
<blockquote><p>&lt;a href=&#8221;http://www.googlepagerankchecker.info&#8221;&gt;Click here&lt;/a&gt; for online pagerank checking.</p></blockquote>
<p>Placing keywords in the text of the link anchors your keyword(s) to your url rather than anchoring &#8220;Click here&#8221; to your url. Not only do you have a backlink to your site, you have created a link of higher quality that includes the keywords you are targeting in your overall marketing campaign.</p>
<p>Why do I need backlinks?</p>
<p>The number of quality backlinks linking to a site is one of the main criteria used by Google and other search engines to rank and place websites. This statement, written by David Austin in a Feature Column of the Monthly Essays on Mathematical Topics, sums it up: &#8220;The fundamental idea put forth by PageRank&#8217;s creators, Sergey Brin and Lawrence Page, is this: the importance of a page is judged by the number of pages linking to it as well as their importance.&#8221;</p>
<p>With this all-powerful statement from the creators of Google, the importance should be clear: you need backlinks to attract the robots that determine the importance of your website. The value of your page, your website, in the eyes of Google&#8217;s robot lies in the number and quality of the links that it finds from other sites to yours. As the number of other popular, high-ranking sites find your site worth linking to grows, your popularity goes up along with your position in the search results.</p>
<p>Additionallly, quality backlinks are needed to entice search engines to stand up and take notice.</p>
<p>Quality backlinks are</p>
<blockquote><p>* links from websites that have a higher page rank than your site<br />
* links from websites that have content or purpose related to your site (also known as relevance)<br />
* links that include anchored text, especially in forum and blog posts and the resource box of published articles<br />
* links that are built naturally over time, not a sudden increase in links just for the sake of having a high number of links</p></blockquote>
<p>Quality backlinks are also helpful in leading visitors to your site. In this regard, backlinks are much like bread crumbs left by Hansel and Gretel to find their way back home. When your site is new, the robot will not place your site at the top of the results list immediately no matter how much time and effort went into the design and SEO of your site. Links from other sites that searchers are likely to find could lead them to your site if they look through the links page to find related products that might be available on your site.</p>
<p>In addition, links placed in posts to forums and blogs and the resource box of published articles have the potential of being seen and followed by thousands of visitors every day. If the forums, blogs, and article directories have high page ranks, you have more than just a link for visitors to follow, you have a quality link that will serve to increase your page rank as well as your traffic.</p>
<p>Google has made it very clear that the importance of a site in the eyes of Googlebot is greatly influenced by the number and importance of the pages linking to it. In order to increase your Google PageRank, your website&#8217;s importance in the eyes of search engines, seek out links from higher-ranking sites that have related content, include anchored text in your signature for forum and blog posts as well as your resource box in articles, and let links build naturally over time. These practices will be a valuable part of your overall marketing strategy.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>There are millions of dollars and multiple hours spent every day trying to increase website traffic, by both ethical and unethical means. There is so much demand for traffic solutions that people will go to any lengths to get ranked higher in the search engines. But did you know that you could increase your traffic by about 20% right now, with virtually no effort?</p>
<p>Most times when you hear something like this I suggest that you turn tail and run as it will normally lead to your site’s ranking demise. This particular method of boosting traffic, however, is not a scam; it’s not an unethical ploy; it is a genuine method of increasing traffic via a future internet standard. The reason that you can increase your traffic so vastly is because you are getting in on the ground floor of a new technology which will revolutionize the internet and the way that traffic is distributed.<br />
<span id="more-50"></span><br />
To understand what we’re about to tell you, you need to understand what an RSS feed is. Put simply, it’s a standard format for sharing your content instantly with users and other websites. People can quickly get access to ‘teasers’ for your latest newsletters, articles, blogs, content and more, and click through to see the full version. This method of distributing your information is very helpful because it basically generates dynamic newsletters without spamming and without causing your visitor any grief at all. </p>
<blockquote><p>In fact, many users find RSS to be their preferred way to hear about updates as RSS is so fast, user-friendly, and (most importantly) dynamic.</p></blockquote>
<p>RSS feeds are often used by news sites or blogs, as the content changes often enough to make it worth while. By using highly targeted RSS feeds, you can improve your site&#8217;s web content without having to write it on your own – if someone offers you an RSS feed of their site, you can add it to your site easily. This provides you with a good content base which will keep visitors coming back. The more information that people associate your site with the more important they consider your site. The more important they consider your site, the more important search engines will consider your site. Providing RSS yourself will get lots of people to link to you and so potentially improve your search engine rankings. Why?</p>
<p>1. RSS feeds can provide good, relevant content for your website – there are plenty of RSS publishers with themed content for you to choose from. These highly-targeted feeds will often contain your keywords, and so increase the keyword relevancy of your website. This helps even more than you may think as the key words will be within link or “anchor” tags. Search engines value anchor tags almost as much (if not more than) header tags (h1-h6).</p>
<p>2. RSS feeds can provide new, fresh content. When new content is added to them, the old content drops off, making sure that your website’s content doesn’t go stale. Most of your visitors will not visit your site if they find that there is nothing new between the first and second time that they visit it. If you want to keep your visitors where they belong, you have to have a good selection of content that is updated on a regular basis.</p>
<p>3. RSS feeds can get search engines to crawl your site more frequently – daily in some cases. This helps your site to rank higher in the search engines, and gives you an advantage over your competition. Your RSS feed can do your SEO work for you.</p>
<p>RSS feeds can be great for getting your newsletter, articles, or blog onto other people&#8217;s sites, and that’s very powerful, as long as you make sure that your RSS feed is adding more to your business than it takes. In some situations, you might find that including RSS on your page makes visitors click away from your site, as they find that site’s content more interesting than you – and people who click on RSS links might be less likely to click on ads. Use caution with RSS feeds, or you could be in for a shock.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>This article covers the rising rate of fraud in the industries of selling expired domains and selling used domains.</p>
<p>Recently I purchased some domains from a broker that were good domains and looked to be well established (they had good PageRank). However, when I &#8220;got them home&#8221; so to speak, they were far from what I thought I had purchased. In my investigation into this, it was clear the domains I had purchased and many of the domains being sold today from brokers (especially on eBay) are littered with fraud.</p>
<p>Domain names are investments, and any investment should researched. Never make the assumption that the domain broker has done this research for you. Chances are, they haven&#8217;t.</p>
<p>Just as there is fraud in PPC, there is fraud in domain purchasing. Just because the Google Toolbar states a PageRank 5 doesn&#8217;t mean it is.<br />
<span id="more-48"></span><br />
First, let&#8217;s discuss the process and how the con artist works. Most SEOs and knowledgeable webmasters know the value of a high PageRank site. And how it can take months, even a year to get a solid PageRank 5 site. So, many SEOs and webmasters turn to domains being sold to get a jump start on the process. Their thinking is, &#8220;If I spend a few thousand on this site, it will shave months off my work schedule.&#8221;</p>
<p>The thinking is sound, but unfortunately, the bad guys know you are thinking this and they take advantage of a &#8220;loophole&#8221; in the system that isn&#8217;t known to most SEOs.</p>
<p>The Google Toolbar.</p>
<p>Google really didn&#8217;t know they were starting &#8220;addictive behavior&#8221; when they first introduced their toolbar back in 2002. Now, millions of webmasters all have &#8220;Green Bar Addiction&#8221; and they watch their PageRank values often as closely as the stock market.</p>
<p>The Loophole:</p>
<blockquote><p>In order to protect their algorithm from their competition (Yahoo! and Microsoft) and &#8220;black hat&#8221; marketers, Google publicly shows &#8220;delayed&#8221; PageRank. Much like the free stock quoting tools online are 15 minute delayed, the Google Toolbar is delayed too. Only, it isn&#8217;t just a few minutes, but 3-5 months.</p></blockquote>
<p>So, the PageRank you see displayed, is actually the PageRank the page had sometime in the past few weeks or months. I am sure you know where this is going now.</p>
<p>Google updates their toolbar about once every three months. So, the con artist does one of two things usually. The first is that they will hijack the PageRank on another domain. I won&#8217;t go into how this is done, so amateur thieves can&#8217;t replicate it. The second way they do this is that they will buy or beg for temporary links from other sites or networks, drive up the PageRank to a 5 or 6 and once the toolbar updates, they cancel all the bought links which lowers the real PageRank to zero. You see, even though Google &#8220;delays&#8221; the showing of the PageRank by a couple of months, they use the current values in their ranking process.</p>
<p>So, even though the site can &#8220;verify&#8221; it is a PageRank 5, the actual value (what Google currently counts) is 0. You basically bought a &#8220;vapor domain.&#8221; Here is a systematic way to check to ensure what you are being sold is genuine. Your &#8220;Gotta make sure this Rolex is really a Rolex&#8221; cheat sheet:</p>
<p>1. The first thing to do is to just go to the site directly and see if the PageRank is the same as advertised. Sometimes the con artist gets lazy and doesn&#8217;t realize a toolbar update happened and their &#8220;PR5&#8243; site is actually displaying &#8220;PR0&#8243;.</p>
<p>2. While you are there look at the site. Is the domain online? Is the site still live or is there a &#8220;placeholder&#8221; page? If it is a placeholder, the domain is probably dead.</p>
<p>3. Next you want to look at the site&#8217;s history. When was the domain registered? To whom? Where is it hosted? Is it on its own IP or is it sharing with hundreds or thousands of other domains? What was the site before?</p>
<p>A great place to start your research is DomainTools.com There you can find key information of when the domain was registered, where it is hosted, and if the domain has its own IP address or not. If it is sharing an IP address, you can access the Reverse IP Tool and often you can uncover networks of sites. This does require at least a Silver Membership which runs $15.00 a month. It will also tell you if the domain is on any email black lists.</p>
<p>To find out what the site was before, you can use the Way Back Machine at www.archive.org. The reason you want to do this is if the domain you are wanting to acquire was a child porn site five years ago. You would want to pass for obvious reasons.</p>
<p>4. Is the site listed in the Google index? Just because it has PageRank, doesn&#8217;t mean it is still listed, so check. The best way to do this is to check the Google Cache. Do a query in Google for &#8211; cache:domain.com (home page check) cache:domain.com/subpage.html (sub page check). Please note that if there are no results that come up, the site could not allow Google to cache the site. If that is the case, use the site: command instead. I like using the &#8220;cache&#8221; command first as that allows me to see the most recently indexed page and what it looked like. If it is different than what is currently displayed, that could be a red flag.</p>
<p>5. Verify the PageRank is legit. In the domain buying space, PageRank is often faked &#8211; especially on eBay or other auctions. I have been a victim of this in the past.</p>
<p>So, how can you protect yourself? Easy. You can use a free tool over at SEO Logs. Just type in the domain and it will check. If it comes back and verifies that it is valid, are you safe? Not quite. One more check.</p>
<p>Use the PageRank Predictor from iWebTool. It will give you a prediction based on current link counts from MSN. You should also check Yahoo!&#8217;s Site Explorer. These are two great resources because they update their links on a weekly basis, whereas Google updates theirs about once a quarter.</p>
<p>That was a lot to digest, I know, but this is how I make sure that I never get taken when buying domains. Getting ripped off is never something that is pleasant &#8211; and domain fraud is a killer as your ability to recoup your loss is slim to none.</p>
<p>Now you have the knowledge that you need in order to verify what is being presented to you is real.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>A common question my clients always ask is, “How do I get on the first page of Google for all of my keywords?” My answer to them is one they find difficult to accept at first, until I show them the way to succeed in Google. My response is, “John, I’m going to be honest with you; it is very unlikely that you will find your website on the first page of Google for all your keywords. We might be able to land you there for a few but for all of them is just not feasible… but let me show you how you can increase your sales, without focusing to increase your ranking.”</p>
<blockquote><p>Now, I’m definitely not saying it&#8217;s not possible to increase your ranking in Google, I’m just saying that it should not be your primary focus &#8211; so hear me out on this one.</p></blockquote>
<p>Any e-marketing person that tells you they will get you on the first page of Google for all your keywords is lying and completely manipulating you because of your lack of knowledge for how search engines operate &#8211; they are probably just interested in your money and not your success. In the past, it was possible to guarantee this because there were tricks we could do to fool the search engines and increase our ranking in Google. Google now detects these tricks and will penalize you for making any attempt to fool their engine. This could sometimes completely ban you from their index. Once you are banned, it is difficult to find your way back without some good due diligence.<br />
<span id="more-43"></span><br />
In today’s e-marketing world it all comes down to the amount of content you have and the page rank of your pages in Google. So to get my clients focused and headed in the right direction, I ask them to completely change their search engine vocabulary. Instead of saying, “How do I increase my ranking in Google?” &#8211; I ask them to say, “How do I increase my website’s visibility in Google?” This small change in vocabulary is a huge change in behavior. Increasing your website’s visibility in the major search engines should be your primary focus if you want to increase sales and drive more traffic to your website. Get rid of the notion that you want your website to be on the first page of Google &#8211; at least for now. Over time you will start to see your ranking improve because by being more visible in Google, you will ultimately increase your traffic and increase your ranking at the same time &#8211; whether or not you are on the first page. It’s a process that takes time and requires effort on your part.</p>
<p>How do I increase my website’s visibility in Google?</p>
<p>A very basic way is to utilize Google’s services to further index and enhance the visibility of your content in their search engine. The following are two services offered by Google that will instantly provide positive results. I highly recommend using both for your business.</p>
<p>Google Base &#8211; is a place where you can easily submit all types of online and offline content. The items you submit to Google Base will be included in the Base directory and depending on your items relevance, can be posted in such places like Google, Froogle and Google Maps. The items you submit can include labels and attributes that help describe what you’re uploading so people can easily locate your items. Attributes are words or phrases that help describe the characteristics and qualities of your items. For any given attribute you may enter multiple values separated by commas. Labels are any keywords or phrases – such as recipe, event, or product – that can be used to classify or describe your item.</p>
<p>Google Base is a great resource to help distribute and share information with others that you would not otherwise know how to reach. With Google Base, your information is almost instantly added and viewable by people searching for your items. Froogle has even been integrated with Google Base. Now products that need to be submitted to Froogle, are submitted through Google Base and no longer a separate program, like it was in the past.</p>
<p>You can submit all types of content to Google Base. Examples include the following: Articles, Events and Activities, Hotels, Jobs, People Profiles, Products, Real Estate, Reviews, Recipes, Services, Vehicles, and much more.</p>
<p>Google Sitemaps &#8211; Well, we have to remember that there are billions of Web pages out there and for the Google crawlers to index your site every few days would not be feasible. Because of this issue, Google has created what they call “Google Sitemaps”. It is a way to tell Google about all the pages in your site. By creating and submitting a Sitemap file, you take control of the first part of the crawling/indexing processes: which is Google’s discovery of the pages. This may be particularly helpful if your site has dynamic content, pages that aren&#8217;t easily discovered by following links, or if your site is new and has few links referencing it.</p>
<p>Google Sitemaps helps speed up the discovery of your pages, which is an important first step in crawling and indexing your website. By submitting a Sitemap file, you could see your content being indexed in days rather than months.Google Sitemaps provides an additional view into your site (just as your home page and HTML site map do). This program does not replace Google’s normal methods of crawling the Web. Google still searches and indexes your site the same way it has done in the past, whether or not you use this program. However, it’s still one of the basic ways to increase your website’s visibility and the rate at which your content is being indexed in the Google search engine.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>How would you like to obtain a backward link from a page rank eight page? Now I imagine and would hope that most of you who have your own website would have answered yes to this question. If your site was to only ever obtain this one link, it would still become at least a page rank five site. In this article I am going to write about how you can obtain one of these hugely powerful links for free.</p>
<p>Now I can imagine that some people are thinking, is this guy for real? Well yes I am actually is the answer to this question. I have been promoting other peoples websites for a number of years now and in that time I have met and spoken to a lot of very interesting and educated (in web marketing terms) people. Around a year ago, I had a conversation with a man called Roger who ended up changing my focus in web marketing in a big way.<br />
<span id="more-41"></span><br />
Roger has a number of very well known businesses that he works for. He is an established and well known web marketing expert and I felt quite privileged when he agreed to spare me his time for a couple of hours one Saturday afternoon. I explained to Roger the ways in which I was currently promoting sites and he replied, young man there are much much easy ways of marketing a website. This is when he started to talk about obtaining links on pr8 pages.</p>
<blockquote><p>Roger stated that he spends his time locating sites which have a homepage page rank of eight. He will then contact the webmasters or owners of these sites and will offer his services to them for free in exchange for a link on their site. Now of course a lot of them will say no but you only need one to say yes to make it worth while.</p></blockquote>
<p>Roger of course is an expert in website promotion and is therefore more likely to receive a positive answer than you or I. We do still have value however, why not offer to write and submit twenty articles for them each week? Give it a go, you may well strike gold.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Does improving your page rank, increase sales? Maybe. Probably. Every business/website owner should understand the significance of page rank to their business. When you have a business website, you want people to visit it. The best way to ensure this is to have your site listed at least on the first page of the search results for a specific keyword. When a search engine is performing a search on a topic it looks at several things to determine how high the page will show up. (Keep in mind that search engines can change what they deem important at any time.) The search engine is looking at how popular the site is, meaning how many people have visited it. It looks at whether the site is truly relevant to the keywords that it is listed under and if it has some good content on it. And it looks to see if other sites are linking to it. Most of the time, a page with a higher ranking will list higher.</p>
<p>When you have a new site, it is unlikely that you will get a high page rank soon, just letting people naturally come to your website. Sometimes it can take months, even years to improve your page rank to get to a 3 on the 10 point ranking scale of Google. <span id="more-39"></span>Websites like Amazon and Yahoo! are 9s. Since you can&#8217;t get high rankings on your own right away, you have to leverage the page ranking of other relevant sites. You&#8217;ve heard that articles play an important part in promoting your business. This is where they come in. If you write an article and submit it to a website that has a higher page rank, you get to use the power of that website to get your website seen. Where do you submit articles? There are hundreds of article directories on the web. Many cater to a particular type of article. Do a little research to find the one that fits your business best. EzineArticles.com and squidoo.com both have a high page rank on Google. These are two very different places in which to submit your articles. Take a look at both and see if one or the other (or both) interest you. You can submit articles to both, or find another directory that suits you. Remember to submit different articles. Article directories and search engines do not take kindly to seeing the same article in different places.</p>
<blockquote><p>You also need articles to provide the good content that the search engines look for on your website. Visitors are also looking for good information. If you give it to them, they will come back. When you fill the need for information, your visitors start to trust you and are more open to becoming customers.</p></blockquote>
<p>Improving your page rank is not completely determined by how many backlinks you have. Article marketing success also comes from considering keywords, titles, and how popular the product is. Page rank is just one piece of the puzzle. You must understand how important articles are to the total success of your business.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Have you ever seen search results where a site with a higher PageRank ends up under the lower one in Google&#8217;s search results?</p>
<p>Ever wonder why?</p>
<p>Since there is a possibility of a new PageRanking session going on now, there is quite a bit of buzz about PageRank all over the internet. From reading other articles, blogs, and their comments, you would think the Google PageRank was somehow all that mattered in SEO. It is almost funny how excited people get about all of this. &#8220;I went from PR3 to PR5,&#8221; &#8220;I don&#8217;t know why but I now am PR4, and I was PR7,&#8221; &#8220;I am happy that my measly PR3 didn&#8217;t change, with everyone dropping in rank I was worried.&#8221; These are just some of the comments I have read recently.</p>
<p>Is page rank really all that important? From all of the buzz you would think that it is all that matters in the results Google returns.</p>
<p>The plain truth is that PageRank is only one factor used in determining how Google ranks your site in the search results.<br />
<span id="more-33"></span><br />
From some of the posts and comments I have been reading, you could get the impression that a high PageRank equates to guaranteed success on the internet.</p>
<p>The truth is, if success is defined as, being in the number 1 spot in the Google search results for your keyword, then it takes more than PageRank. I have seen PR7 sites come back below PR3 sites.</p>
<p>Is PageRank just another way of saying &#8220;hey mine is bigger than yours?&#8221;</p>
<p>The truth is that page rank is just one of many factors used to determine where you land in the search results. Don&#8217;t get me wrong it is important to have a good PageRank, but it is not the only thing that matters. If it was a higher ranked site could never come back below a lower page, but they do. I know this all sounds like SEO sacrilege, but don&#8217;t worry I haven&#8217;t lost the faith, read on&#8230;</p>
<p>One possible explanation of this Phenomenon could be the higher ranking page has some bad outbound links. By bad links I mean they are pointing to sites that no longer exist, or have been banned by Google. This is an area that is often overlooked as a problem.</p>
<p>In the quest for the holy PR, webmasters often exchange links, buy links, post to blogs, submit articles etc&#8230; but, how many times do they go back and check that the pages they are linking to are pages they should be linking to? The answer for many is not enough.</p>
<p>If high page rank is your goal, then a linking strategy must be an integral part of your strategy. If you don&#8217;t follow up and make sure that you are linked to sites that are acceptable to Google you could end up hurting yourself.</p>
<p>I recommend that you check the pages you link to at least once every couple months, and more if you have developed a large list of link partners. If you find that a site you link to has suddenly lost all of its PageRank, then you may have a problem.</p>
<p>Check to see if they are still in the Google index by searching for their entire domain name. If no results come back, then they are banned (presuming that they were once in the index, you did check that before exchanging links right?). You should immediately delete the link from your page to the banned page, or Big G wont like it. And if Big G doesn&#8217;t like something, they may not ban you, but rest assured they will penalize you in the search results.</p>
<p>Don&#8217;t avoid exchanging links because of this. It is still important to gain PageRank (if for no other reason than bragging rites). Just keep an eye on your linking partners to make sure they don&#8217;t bring you down.</p>
